Jimmy with Betsy & Daniel Eldridge
Mere seconds before the picture above was taken, Betsy said, “You're gonna write a blog post about us, aren't you?” Yes, Betsy I sure am :)
OK so let's get down to the point: Betsy and Daniel are straight-up firecrackers! They love great music and love having a good time. Both of those things came together in a well-choreographed dance, and it was better than I could have expected.
Betsy and her mom met with me last May, and we had a great first encounter. She and her mom both had the typical needs: they wanted the music to be great, they wanted their guests to dance all night, they wanted this day to be memorable....all of those needs were met and then some.
First, their ceremony was held at Idlewild Presbyterian downtown followed by their reception at 409 S. Main. I can honestly say that I have not seen that many people in that venue in a long time. It was a very upbeat event all around, and two of Betsy's cousins even performed during their cocktail hour playing some great contemporary Americana tunes and I believe there were one or two originals thrown in there. All performed very well. Those kids have some real talent!
Betsy and Daniel requested that I introduce them and their bridal party “Memphis Grizzlies style” via Mr. Rock Trotter. Since I had witnessed this type of introduction firsthand weeks before at Timmi & Brian Glimp's wedding at the Cadre, it was easy to pull off.
I got my set started with some songs that were more dance-worthy than chill-worthy. Everything from Al Green to Stray Cats to Stevie Wonder, and everyone seemed to really enjoy it! After all, Betsy and Daniel really wanted everyone there to know that a party was about to ensue, so I figured hitting them with some fresh and fun music from the start was a great way to do that.
Both bride's and groom's parents were very cordial and welcoming to me, and even offered their assistance with my load in and load out. Betsy's dad, Jim, was right there at the end of the night and did not allow me to tell him no when asked if I needed his help. Thanks, Mr. Apple!
Thanks to our friends at Christen Jones Photography, Gia Marina, Central BBQ and PicStrip Photo Booth completing our vendor team, it was the teamwork that made it all fall into place very well.
There was so much more about this evening that I could write, but this blog post can only be so long LOL. Overall, it was fantastic, and I could not have asked for a better wedding reception!
Thanks, Betsy & Daniel! You guys are awesome and I really appreciate you both having me for your wedding day!
When the party is so good, the photographer gets in on the action!
UPDATE: Betsy followed up with an amazing review on WeddingWire!
